From Austin comes What Made Milwaukee Famous and their new Barsuk Records release, Trying to Never Catch Up. Occasionally sounding like The Strokes and The Beatles and The Knack, WMMF plays catchy rock/pop that's ever-changing and always interesting. One track, Hellodrama, reminds me of My Sharona with its catchy ‘oh, Charlena’ chorus and throwback feel.
Many bands have one sound that they recycle in every song, but WMMF is not one of these bands. Ever-changing, their music keeps you on your toes.
