The updated Ashcan Rantings seems to like the 'roundup' format, so here's a roundup devoted to music.
Ack, over at Hero Hill, posted two nice reviews today regarding albums from The One AM Radio and Apostle of Hustle, and as always, his posts dig beneath the surface and offer originality and insight.
And, to wrap up the roundup, I posted two Clap Your Hands Say Yeah tracks the other day, and (after a few more listens) I've decided I much prefer Underwater [MP3] to Love Song No. 7 [MP3], which is a little too mopey. I'd like to hear some feedback on this one, so please let me know what you think. I'm hoping their sophomore album will be as engrossing as the first - can't wait to hear it in its entirety.

These types of records are usually classified as end of the night records, but I’ve found The One AM Radio fits perfectly into a crisp, winter morning. Pulling your scarf around your neck, walking with your hand tucked into your pockets, his voice and sounds begin to take life, just like the city itself. Cars pulling out onto empty streets; random strangers passing silently, walking with only their own thoughts. No sound interferes with the moment and unfolds perfectly as you walk, watching first light coming up over the city.My first interview for Ashcan Rantings was with Scott Garred (aka Super XX Man) and ever since I posted the story, I've kept a close eye on Hush Records. I haven't written about the label lately, so I wanted to mention Laura Gibson, who writes and plays wonderful music that's earthy and somehow warming. Hands in Pockets [MP3] is one track from her album If You Come to Greet Me that shows off her homespun talent.
