Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Leah and I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix yesterday, and we were both mesmerized. Not a run-of-the-mill children's movie, the fifth installment of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series is serious from beginning to to end and, like the novel, darker in tone than the previous installments. With imagery of Nazi Germany and a few digs at the PATRIOT Act, Order of the Phoenix contains Orwellian commentary regarding tyrannical governments, diminished democracy and necessary rebellion.

With actors like Ralph Fiennes, Emma Thomson, Helena Bohnam Carter and Gary Oldman, it's hard to go wrong, but with high expectations comes the possibility of a letdown. In this case, however, the film exceeded my expectations. Order of the Phoenix is the best Harry Potter film yet.

Oh, and the final battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort is ridiculously cool.
