Eventually, I hope this web site will generate enough money for nonprofits to make a difference. I think that people interested in the arts tend to be socially aware, so I think this site will get rolling someday. Until it does, however, I'd like to take a minute to write a about a fundraising project that's well on its way to success.
Songs for Sixty Five Roses, a fundraising album for a cystic fibrosis, is comprised of North Carolina cover songs, performed by artists like Portastatic, Tift Merritt and Southern Culture on the Skids.
The project was put together by John Plymale, whose daughter Allie has CF. The album is a great effort to raise funds for a very worthy cause. You can listen to some of the tracks on the 65 Roses MySpace page.
And if you're wondering where the album's name comes from, many children say "sixty-five roses" when they try to say "cystic fibrosis."
