On August 22nd, Asthmatic Kitty Records will release Bring Me the Workhorse by My Brightest Diamond (aka, Shara Worden). On the track I've heard, Something of an End, Worden's vocals are both delicate and powerful, whimsical and bold. The track opens with a haunting arrangement, transitions into powerful drums and strings, and then shifts into Worden scatting the sound of a telephone. It may sound a wee bit odd, but it works and works well. If Worden can make one song sound so innovative and varried, I can't wait to hear the rest of her album.
