Tuesday at the Record Store

The remastered edition of Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane's Complete 1957 Riverside Recordings is the one album released tomorrow that I know will find its way into my record collection. I already have a few Monk/Coltrane albums, but you can never have too much of a good thing.

Before John Coltrane set off on his own, he recorded with Miles Davis and then Thelonious Monk, and even though Monk and Coltrane didn't work together for long, they recorded some great tracks while they did. And this 2-CD set captures much of their collaborative genius.

For a complete list of Tuesday's releases, visit Largehearted Boy.

And if you're looking for more John Coltrane, check out Lush Life and Soultrane, which are two of my favorites.
