Barack Obama 2008

It's official. Senator Barack Obama is running for President, which is going to make the Democratic primaries a lot of fun. I can't wait to see the likable Obama face off against the stoic Senator Clinton. If you throw in the charm of John Edwards (Go Heels!), you've got an awesome recipe for political junkies like me.

If you want to support Obama, his web site launched My.BarackObama.com, which is a social network (think Facebook or MySpace) that allows like-minded Obama supporters to meet, organize events, raise funds and put into action one of the themes from yesterday's announcement.

That is why this campaign can't only be about me. It must be about us - it must be about what we can do together. This campaign must be the occasion, the vehicle, of your hopes, and your dreams. It will take your time, your energy, and your advice - to push us forward when we're doing right, and to let us know when we're not. This campaign has to be about reclaiming the meaning of citizenship, restoring our sense of common purpose, and realizing that few obstacles can withstand the power of millions of voices calling for change.

The Obama Store has launched too (if you want some nifty gear) and don't miss 60 Minutes tonight, because it features a Steve Kroft interview with the Senator and his wife.
