Pseudosix and Lyle Lovett

Today brings forth two albums worth a listen. First up is a self-titled record by Pseudosix, a band from Portland that plays music definable by adjectives like complex, layered, smart, detailed, understated, melodic, and (most importantly) good. Their album from Sonic Boom Recordings offers ten songs definable as such, including my favorite track, Under the Waves [MP3].

Also releasing today is It's Not Big It's Large by Lyle Lovett and His Large Band. I haven't heard this one yet, but I have no doubt it will further define the unique Lovett genre - not country, not jazz, not folk, but a mixture of all three, plus the kitchen sink. This is Lyle's first release in four years, and I can't wait to hear it.
