If you've never visited Daytrotter, today is a good day to start. They just posted four live tracks by My Brightest Diamond (aka Shara Worden), and they also published a nice interview as well.
I briefly noted Worden's last album, Bring Me The Workhorse (Asthmatic Kitty), back in August and have enjoyed her music ever since.
For me, success is about getting to play with the people you want to play with, to be inspired by them, to be challenged and to be able to trust each other. So every day with them felt like a dream come true. Those times in a musician’s life are gifts and I felt that way about my time with them (which is why I was so stoked to have recorded with Daytrotter, cause the boys brought something to the music of their own and I wanted to have my own record of it!).

Even though Warden’s music is unlike anything I’ve heard, her unfaltering originality reminds me of artists like Ani Difranco and Sinead O’Conner. The opening track, Something on an End [MP3], is a perfect example of her unique style. Opening with quiet, haunting strings and hushed vocals, the song then ascends and crescendos, showing off Warden’s powerful vocal ability. Mixing serenity and rage, fragility and strength, the track is a snapshot of the overall album, which is nothing short of excellent.Be sure to check out the Daytrotter Session Archives too for the music of Bonnie Prince Billy, Elf Power, Casey Dienel and many other great artists.
